WBI's Coiled Tubing Pig Catcher / Detector is a simple tool which is used to safely and effectively indicate when the reel has been successfully pigged and the ball and / or dart have reached the end of the coil.
This operation is typically carried out using a steel ball and a foam dart or 'pig' sized to suit the internal diameter of the coil tubing string. The tool simply screws onto the coiled tubing connector and the lower end can be connected to a drain line for containment of any dirty fluids.
Once the ball has travelled through the reel it lands out on a restriction within the tool. This restriction creates a pressure build up which forces the Piston downwards and gives an external visual indication that the ball has reached the Detector. The ball and dart are retained within the lower end of the tool where one of the plugs can be removed for further visual confirmation.
The tool can also be fitted with a rupture disc facility to prevent any overpressure and a bleed off port to ensure any internal pressure can be safely bled off prior to removal.
