Dual Circulation Sub

Product Code: WBI PDS 0015

The Dual Circulation Sub is drop ball activated circulation device used in Coiled Tubing and jointed pipe bottom hole assemblies. The Dual Circulation Sub also contains a secondary emergency rupture disc facility.

The Circulation Sub is a standard CT BHA component which is typically run above a mud motor to provide a circulation path to the annulus for increased flow rate on completion of milling operations.

The tool is activated by means of a drop ball and applied surface pressure to shear-out the internal piston and open the annulus circulation ports. Once activated a large flow area from tubing to annulus is opened for maximum circulation rates. When activated the flow path through the tool is isolated and all flow is diverted through the annulus ports.

In the unlikely event that the BHA becomes plugged the rupture disc can be burst by applying a pre-determined pressure to regain circulation allowing the activation ball to be circulated to depth.

Features:

  • Simple, robust design.
  • Large thru-bore for passage of drop balls.
  • Easily field redressable.
  • Large flow area to annulus when activated.
  • Emergency rupture disc facility – full pressure range available.
  • Assists hole cleaning.
  • Prevents wear on mud motor.
